Why go?

Hilltop fun with a view to match

Victoria Park is a stunning hillside playground with sweeping views over Christchurch. The standout feature is a big hill slide built into the landscape, with stone steps leading up for a fun climb before the ride down. At the bottom, you’ll find a well-equipped playground, picnic areas, and wide-open green space to run and play. Whether you’re stopping in for a quick play or staying longer to explore the nearby walking tracks, this spot offers a refreshing dose of nature and plenty of room to move.

Little or no shade

Do note that while there’s shelter for eating, the playground itself has no shade, so bring sunhats on bright days.

Toilets onsite

Route options

Adventurous families can even take the Harry Ell Track, which starts nearby and winds its way up to the Sign of the Kiwi Café—a scenic spot known for its date scones and views.
