Family escape rooms in Christchurch
Escape rooms can work brilliantly for mixed-age groups when the room fits, adults join in and younger players have support.
More than a number
Age is useful guidance, but developmental stage matters too. Attention, confidence, persistence and willingness to take part all shape the experience. One younger child playing with engaged adults may have a very different experience from a full team of young children.
Adults take part too
Family groups work best when adults join in, encourage younger players and help connect the more complex discoveries. Adults are part of the experience too; the room is not designed only for the youngest player.
The rules to know
New to escape rooms?
No specialist knowledge is required. First-time groups can do well when the room suits them, everyone participates and the team is willing to ask the Game Master for support. Confidence and communication matter more than previous escape-room experience.
What helps most: communication, curiosity and asking for a hint when you need one.
Sensory and access guidance
Some rooms may be dim, suspenseful or use flashing effects. Room pages contain specific sensory and accessibility guidance, and individual comfort varies.
We welcome guests with a range of access needs. Accessibility differs between rooms, so contact us for guidance specific to your group.

Rooms differ in atmosphere, challenge, physical interaction and sensory experience. These two rooms show different family-friendly styles, and you can explore all rooms for more options.
