The biggest playground in the southern hemisphere!
Margaret Mahy Playground, the largest playground in the Southern Hemisphere, is a city-centre icon packed with challenge, fun, and creativity. From the massive hilltop slide to the water play area, climbing towers, flying foxes, and picnic spots, this is a place where imaginations (and energy) can run wild for hours.

Good to know
Before you go.
Dogs are not allowed in the main playground areas, but they are permitted on-lead around the park’s perimeter.
The playground is fully accessible with well-paved paths for strollers and wheelchairs.
Across the road from the playground there is a pump track for kids to ride their bikes and scooters on.
There is a car park on site offering free 120minute parking, but be aware that this is one way and gets full at busy periods.
Pack swim gear or a change of clothes if the water play is part of your visit.
The four-metre-wide slide is large enough for children and grown-ups to ride together.
A tall rope tower leads to a spiral tube slide for confident climbers.
