Escape Room Dunedin Players

Escape Artists | We are lovers of puzzles and team challenges.

At Escape Artists we have centrally located escape rooms in both Christchurch and Dunedin. We are a uniquely interactive hands-on problem solving experience. Therefore, our escape rooms are designed especially for company team building challenges. Additionally, date nights, and as a fun outing for friends & family.

We welcome teams of 2 to 6 per room or groups up to 24 in Christchurch and 18 in Dunedin spread over our four rooms in Christchurch or three rooms in Dunedin. In other words, for one of the most fun things to do in Christchurch and Dunedin you will have to check us out!

What is An Escape Room?

Its a room you must escape! The challenge is to work together to solve the puzzles, and escape the room in the nick of time!

Escape rooms offer a series of puzzles, riddles and clues which you must solve in a fast-paced situation, to above all, “escape” the room. New Zealand has plenty of escape rooms on offer, however, we (in our opinion) offer the best experience in both Christchurch and Dunedin.

Skills utilised in the challenge include team work, communication, strategy, leadership. You will also get to test your co-operation, delegation, planning, organising and time management. Who are escape artists? A closer look!

Bekee is our evil genius puzzle-master (more genius – less evil). Bekee is always coming up with brain-scrambling challenges and offering our visitors many a surprise; meanwhile Dan conducts elaborate explorations of every antique store and op shop between Christchurch and Dunedin. He is always collecting boxes, trunks, trinkets, multiple forms of lighting and quirky furniture. Additionally he tries to find strange props to make each uniquely themed escape room experience a work of art.

An escape game is a real-life experience where participants are locked in a room and must use elements of the room. Also the group’s collective knowledge, and furthermore their wits to discover clues, solve puzzles. and escape and/or find the missing item within a set amount of time.
You aren't actually trapped in the rooms. If a door is locked there is always an emergency exit button that can be used to leave the room at anytime, even if you just want to go to the bathroom or get a drink of water that is perfectly fine.
The games themselves will take on average 60 minutes to complete but that depends on how each team goes. The variable is usually between 50 and 70 minutes. We usually allow 5 or so minutes for a briefing before hand and approx 5 minutes after for a team photo.
Yes, we accept cash, EFTPOS, Visa and Mastercard. However, don't accept AMEX or Cheques.
No, we only offer private bookings. If you book for two people it will just be the two of you playing. Public bookings are more popular overseas.
We recommend bringing reading glasses if you normally require these. Additionally, we have magnifying glasses available if you need one of these also 🙂
Children 11 years old and younger will need an adult present in the room. Children aged 12-14 we recommend an adult is either in the room or in our reception so our staff can ask them to go in the room if required. We are always more than happy to discuss this - If you get in contact with us we can advise the best way it can work.
